Most of us are familiar with Sononyliv, one of the smaller players in the Ott game in India. However, when it comes to Mollywood, the platform has built up a picture of quality about quantity, mainly due to its careful selection of content -rich films. Some of these films can now stream free of charge by May 25, 2025. Yes, you heard that no subscription is correct. However, you have to register and you have to look at advertising as a free school. Streaming quality is also limited to 720p.
Nevertheless, the current free selection of Sononyliv is mixed and does not completely reflect the strong brand image of the platform in Mollywood. Most of the better films still require payments.

Chaaver is a political action thriller that revolves around an assassination attempt. Although it plays in the present, it presents a fictional version of the political landscape of Kerala, which repeats elements from the past. The film follows a group of foot soldiers who, who are driven by ideological loyalty, carry out violent missions in the name of managers who are often motivated by personal agendas. In essence, the film offers a strong representation of the consequences with which the executors and victims of such violence are confronted. Under the direction of Tinu Pappachan, Chaaver strikes for his technical finesse, which give striking images and the background evaluation of the key moments emotional weight. While the narrative leaves some things unspoken, those who read between the lines and can grasp the underlying topics can find the film very convincing.

Bougainvillea
Bougainvillea is a psychological slasher with strong thriller elements with Kunchacko Boban as a pediatrician, Jyothirmayi as his wife and Fahadh Faasil in the role of a police officer. The story revolves around the mysterious disappearance of several female tourists and the worrying connection that Jyothirmayi’s character seems to have with the case. The film also touches how childhood experiences can shape and distort a person’s psyche. Both Kunchacko Boban and Jyothirmayi deliver outstanding achievements, but the film can only be moderately engaging for the average viewer.
Malayalee from India
Malayalee from India is a survival comedy with Nivin Pauly and Dhyan Sreenivasan as two unemployed friends who are actively involved in a political party. Her carefree life takes a sharp turn when a misunderstanding ends up in serious difficulties. As a result, Nivin Pauly’s character is forced to leave the country and drive to the Middle East. The film follows his journey and how this experience changes him.
Churuli
Churuli mixes several genres, including mystery, black comedy, sci-fi and thriller. To make it a really unconventional film. It is certainly not for everyone, but it has been given considerable attention in Kerala, mainly due to the strong use of foul language, which triggered a widespread discussion. The story follows two hidden police officers who are looking for a criminal in a mysterious forest village. However, they will soon be in one place where the rules appear meaningless and the border between reality and illusion blurred. While the concept is fascinating and ambitious, the execution is too short.
