Ponman, directed by the Gotish Shankar, is a dark comedy based on the novel Naalanchu Cheruppakar by GR Indugopan. The film with Basil Joseph and Sajin Gopu follows a gold seller who gives gold decorations for weddings under an agreement – the bride family pays the costs after the wedding with the money they receive as gifts. In this case, however, the family only manages to collect a subset, so that the protagonist has no choice but to call up the gold to cover the remaining balance.
